System requirements

Tor Browser is based on Mozilla Firefox's ESR (Extended Support Release), which periodically updates to include critical security updates from Firefox's main version. Due to these updates, older operating systems may eventually become incompatibile with newer versions of software dependencies that are only available in more recent OS versions. Maintaining support for outdated systems would compromise the security of Tor Browser, as it would require disabling newer security features and mechanisms that are crucial for protecting users' online anonymity.

Note: Support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 will be discontinued after the release of Tor Browser 14, scheduled for the end of 2024. Users on these operating systems are strongly advised to upgrade to maintain access to the most recent updates and security features provided by Tor Browser.

Windows

macOS

  • macOS 10.12 and later.

Linux

Tor Browser is supported on any modern Linux-based operating system. Please reach out if you encounter any issues while installing.

Installation

For Windows

  3. (מומלץ) לאמת את חתימת הקבץ.

  4. כאשר ההורדה מסתיימת, יש להקליק הקלקה כפולה על הקבץ .dmg. השלימו את תהליך אשף ההתקנות.

For GNU/Linux

  1. לנווט לעמוד ההורדה של דפדפן Tor.

  2. הורדת הקובץ .tar.xz  של GNU/Linux .

  3. (מומלץ) לאמת את חתימת הקבץ.

  4. כעת יש לעקוב אחר השלבים באופן גרפיות או בשורת הפקודה::

התאור הגרפי

  • כאשר ההורדה מסתיימת, חלץ את פריטי הארכיב תוך שימוש במנהל הארכיב.

  • יש צורך לומר ל GNU/Linux שלך שברצונך להיות מסוגל/ת לבצע הרצת סקריפטים. התנתבו לתיקייה החדשה שנפרקה של דפדפן Tor. יש להקליק הקלקה ימנית על start-tor-browser.desktop, לפתוח את תכונות - Properties או העדפות - Preferences ולשנות את ההרשאות כדי לאפשר את הפעלת הקבץ כתוכנית. כעת הקלקה כפולה על הצלמית כדי להתחיל את דפדפן Tor בפעם הראשונה.

Make the .desktop file executable in Linux

הערה: על Ubuntu וכמה אחרים אם תנסו להפעיל את start-tor-browser.desktop יתכן שקובץ טקסטואלי יפתח. In that case, you will have to change the default behavior and allow running .desktop files as executables. This setting can usually be found in your file manager.

שימוש בשורת הפקודה

  • כאשר ההורדה מסתיימת, חלצו את קובץ הארכיב בעזרת הפקודה tar -xf [TB archive].

  • מתוך תיקיית דפדפן Tor אפשר להפעיל את דפדפן Tor על ידי הפעלת:

    ‪./start-tor-browser.desktop

    הערה: אם הפקודה לא מצליחה להפעיל, ככל הנראה יש להפוך את הקובץ לקובץ הפעלה. מתוך התיקייה הפעילו את: chmod +x start-tor-browser.desktop
